Edward Ogdee, ninety-two-year resident of Falfurrias, Texas and most recently of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away Tuesday morning, August 6, 2019 at the age of 93.

He was born on September 27, 1925 in Falfurrias to Louis and Manuela Ogdee.

He is survived by his sister, Lizzie Ogdee McLandrich [Nicholas McLandrich] of San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Ninfa Garza Ogdee.

Those left to cherish his memory are six children, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren –

Helen Ogdee Palmore (daughter) [David Palmore] of Tiki Island, Texas,

Edward Ogdee, Jr. (son) [Jessica Ogdee] of Flour Bluff, Texas,

Anna Lisa Ogdee (daughter) [Willie Drew, Jr.] of Corpus Christi, Texas,

Paul Anthony Ogdee (son) [Nelda Ogdee] of Edinburg, Texas,

Angela Marie Ogdee (daughter) of Austin, Texas,

He had a lengthy career and passion for law enforcement, serving over 25 years in the South Texas law enforcement community. Being elected as Sheriff for Brooks County, Texas was one of his biggest honors. He was also a police officer for the City of Falfurrias, Texas for 16 of those years as well.

“Eddie” was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias and a past member of the Knights of Columbus, De Colores, Lions Club International, 4-H Youth Booster Club and Youth Leader. He worked at the family ranch managing horses, cattle, dairy cows and crops establishing a legacy of family ranch life. His hobbies included private flying lessons, exploring the area countryside with his sister Mary on motorcycles, daily exercise and fitness, fundraising for various local organizations and traveling.

He was a member of the "greatest generation" and served his country in the US Navy during World War II aboard the US Marquette in the South Pacific.

Post retirement, “Eddie” remained active in the community and continued to help everyone who reached out to him. Most recently, he was a resident at Elan of Corpus Christi where he continued to stay active, enjoyed spending time with family, loved conversation and storytelling about days long ago.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday August 9, 2019 with a Rosary being prayed by David Longoria, of Falfurrias, at 7:00 p.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery with attendance by members of the Nueces County Sheriff's Department, Texas Marshall, Brooks County Sheriff's Department, City of Falfurrias Police Department and Fire Department, as well as Veterans Colored Guard of Alice, Texas. Reception and Celebration of Life will be held at The Gallery in downtown Falfurrias.
