Dear Leo, 

We spent so much time together during one of the most important developmental periods of our lives--the first few years of (pre-)teenhod. I knew many people, but you were one of my very few actual friends. 

I admired, respected and envied you for the kinds of reasons a teen would: You had the cool rocker look/vibe down pat from head to toe, whereas I was an awkward cheap imitation with horrible hair and comedically huge feet several sizes too big for my gangly frame. 

More importantly, I never met one person who had anything bad to say about you.  Even though we were all young, I believe everyone who knew you recognized and appreciated the many great qualities you possessed. 

It was a shame that we slowly grew apart after I had to leave our school.  I would eventually try to reach out periodically but, unfortunately, my efforts never proved successful.  

By tragic synchronicity, on the day I once again committed to finally finding you, I learned about your health issues. Even more determined than ever to meet again and resume our friendship, I found out later that same day that you had left us only hours before. 

I make sure not to have many regrets in life, but failing to reconnect with such a kind, generous and loving spirit now ranks among my deepest regrets. Living in the past is not productive, but there is great value in remembering and honouring those who had such an important impact on our lives.

You were the best big brother to me and best uncle to my kids💔 I am heartbroken you have left us so soon. Life will never be the same without those beautiful blue eyes and smile. I will miss your humour and all the laughs. Thanks for all the beautiful memories and everything you have done for me. I will love and miss you every single day for the rest of my life💔💔 rest in paradise bro xoxoxo

Leo I will forever cherish our childhood memories, I’m sad we didn’t spend more time together as we aged. I will never forget you  cuz, fly high with the angels RIP.
