He was born in Seguin Texas on January 31, 1930.
Delbert graduated from Corsicana High School and received an Associates of Engineering degree from New York State University.
He was married to Stella Fay (Crow) Dillard on February 20, 1954.
Delbert served in the Merchant Marines. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in April 1950 and was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in April 1952. He worked as a Computer Engineer for Philco - Sperry Rand – Univac –Unisys until he retired in 1992. He was regarded as top in his field and was instrumental in working and building out some of the first mainframe computers that were commercially produced (Eniac).
Delbert had a passion for building, repairing and improving everything around him. This included cars, appliances, electrical, plumbing, toys, etc. He completed several remodels on the house that he lived in for 50 years.
He is preceded in death by Thelmer Clarence Dillard (father) and Annie Belle (Kelly) Dillard Mother.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Stella Fay Dillard (Crow); two sons Delbert Markham Dillard and wife Tammy Dillard (Reinhart), and Thomas Earl Dillard and his wife Candace Dillard (Coker); three grandchildren Meghan Dillard, Stella Dillard, and Julia Dillard; one sister Joy Green (Dillard) and one brother Donald Dillard.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5th, from 10:00 am until 11:45 am at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at 12:00 pm in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
A reception will be held on Saturday, October 5th, following the graveside service at Maggiano’s Italian restaurant, 205 North Park Center Dallas Texas 75225.
