Catherine Barnes

Celebration of Life Service for Catherine “Cathy” Lanning Barnes 68, are set for 12:00 noon Wednesday at McPeters Funeral Directors with Rev. Jody Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth National Cemetery.

Cathy died October 6, 2019 at Tippah County Health and Rehab. She was born May 4, 1951 to the late Dick and Bess Lanning. She was of the Methodist faith, a 1969 graduate of Corinth High School. She worked for her father at Lanning Chevrolet from 1969 to 1975, then went to work at ITT and then Cortelco were she retired from the Human Resource office. She loved her dog Leroy and her birds Paco and Sunny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Barnes; parents, Garnett R. "Dick” and Bess Lanning.

She is survived by her sons, Stan Horton (B. J.), Kevin Horton (Ashlee); grandchildren Stan Horton III, Hannah Horton, Brooks Horton, Hallie Horton; sister, Cindy Dickey (Larry); niece, Brandy Settlemires (Marty); special friend, Jon Meredith.

Pallbearers, Pat Hodum, Kenneth Elam, Randy Jones, Larry Dickey , Jon Meredith, Marty Settlemires, Stan Horton III.

A family and friends gathering for Cathy will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 11:00 Am to service time.

Contributions in Cathy’s memory may be made to Corinth Alcorn Animal Shelter, Corinth, Mississippi.
