Hadn’t seen Lana in many years, but do have such sweet and fond memories. One memory was of her singing “Harper Valley PTA” at Aunt Jack’s  and Uncle Bill’s home back in our younger days.  Smiling as I write this but saddened because she will be missed. 


Lana is the closest thing to a big sister I ever had in all my 61 years.  For me, Lana invented quality time. 
When I was a little girl she would take me riding in her car and talk to me like I was a grown up.  
If I visited her at her parents’ when she was a teenager she would show me all of her special treasures and tell me secrets.
When I grew up she would have me stay weekends now and again, especially after I had Trace.  He and Jill were playmates.
Each time I visited she would take me to her room and show me her clothes and makeup and shampoo, etc.  She would tell me what she had been doing for fun.  I remember how happy she was when she got her Karaoke machine.
She’d show me the new decorations in her house and new furniture.
She’d share with me about her children and their lives.  She always said:  “Jill’s just exactly like you Cherie “.  That made me feel happy because I always loved Jill extra special.  She’s very precious to me.  
And Lana always fed me good stuff; like peanut butter pie.
She always knew the right things to say at the right times.  Like when I started showing signs of aging and was sad about it; she said: “But you’re still pretty 
Cherie “.
She shared a special secret with me when she was visiting us in Berwick.  She was a teenager and had a teen romance going with a boy named Theo while she was in Berwick.  When it was time to go home she had Mom drive us to his house so she could break up with him in person.
Me and Mom and Aunt Joy waited in the car.
She came out and got in the backseat beside me.  As we drove away she told me she was interested in a boy in Cameron who played football for the high school.  She said she wanted to show me something special he gave to her.
She reached in her purse and pulled out a folded tissue.  She unfolded it and inside was a piece of dried skin with dried blood on it.  She said this is Tommy Eakin’s skin.
He hurt himself playing football and saved this for me.  I think he loves me.


Lana was a beautiful person, inside and out.  She left us way to soon, heartbreaking. 

So sorry to hear of Lana's passing. She was such a friendly,fun person. Always with a smile and something nice to say. Condolences to Tommy and the Eakin family. Rest in peace Lana.

Prayers for the family.  I remember Lana as a  sweetheart who had an infectious smile.  We will miss her. 

My deepest sympathy and prayers for the Dinger Family. They made my mom a part of their family and momma loved Lana and Tommy and the kids. Daphne and Billy always had a special place in her heart.  God has a new Angel. May He wrap His loving arms around Lana's family and may the host of Angels welcome Lana to her new home in Heaven. 

Lana was such a beautiful person with the best personality. Just a minute or two with her was sure to have you in the best mood because she had such a great sense of humor. She always had the best out look on each day.   My thoughts and prayers are with all of you as I know you are missing her dearly.   We have all lost a dear soul. 🙏

Sooo sorry for your loss. She was such a sweet soul. Praying for your family.

What a fun baby sitter! She and Tommy were a hoot.  She was such a treasure, sweet, playful and fun.  I know you all will miss her terribly.  I will be out of town and can't be there but you will all be in my prayers.

I’m so very sorry.  Lana was a friend since childhood.  All who loved her are in my heart and in my prayers.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William "Tommy" Eakin; her mother, Joyce Dinger of Lake Charles; one son, Billy Jay Eakin and wife SarahJane of Carlyss; two daughters, Daphne Marti and husband Brent of Lake Charles, Jillian McBride and husband Jason of Westlake; two brothers, Henry "J-Boy" Dinger, Jr. and wife Sherry of Lake Charles, Eric Dinger and wife Claudette of Grand Lake; along with nine grandchildren, Andrew and Lauren Eakin, Lyndi, Landon, and Lane Marti, Emily, Hannah, Olivia, and Kate Marie McBride.

Lana is preceded in death by father, Henry Joseph Dinger, Sr.
