Fran was born in Monticello, Mississippi on November 10th, 1933 to her parents, Abner and Hazel Hancock. She married Ronald Leon Townley on May 15th, 1955. She was preceded in death by her husband, and 2 children Randall Townley, and Rhonda Williams.
After graduating from high school, Fran attended business school in New Orleans, Louisiana. Before she married, she worked at the E J & E Railway in Gary, Indiana. Along with her husband, they raised their four children in Portage, Indiana and then moved to Columbus, Indiana in 1996. Fran was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed volunteering at Columbus Regional Hospital and spending time as a Foster Grandparent/Book Buddy at Clifty Creek Elementary School.
She is survived by her children, Richard Townley of Chicago, Illinois, Becki (Jim) Miller of Columbus; grandchildren, Craig (Rachel) Townley, Matt (Jessica) Townley, Alyssa (John) Mayer, Jeffrey Townley, Brian Townley, Solon (Kimberly) Williams, Carter Williams, Caitlyn Williams, Courtney Williams, and Carson Williams; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Payton, Cameron, Gavin, Connor, and Luke.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 24 at Myers-Reed Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kristi Jones officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. the day of the service. Burial will be at Flat Rock Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana following the funeral.
