My deepest sympathy to  Barbara, Maureen, Tom and Ron in the loss of their father.  I have so many fond memories of our family visits through the years. The ties between our grandparents and parents will always hold a special place in my heart, May the Lord give you comfort at this difficult time in knowing  Joe and Mary are together again forever.



On behalf of the Capuchin brothers, I offer my deepest sympathies on the passing of Joseph. It is truly humbling to receive memorial donations in honor of Joseph's life. Please be assured of the prayers of all the brothers for the entire Bannigan family during this great time of grief. May perpetual light shine upon Joseph!

Growing up in Kalamazoo, I really enjoyed visiting our cousins in Detroit. One time I got to stay with Joey for a week.  It may have been in 1940  or so and we were both about ten.  Aunt Ruth had the car, a lot of energy and wanted to make sure I had a good time.
We went downtown, visited the top of the Penobscot building and went to a Tiger game at Briggs Stadium.  We spent another day at one of the amusement parks with lots of special treats.   On Sunday, it was Mass at St. David Church and a movie in the afternoon with Uncle Joe.
When he stayed with me it was much less exciting but we had fun roaming in the woods and he fit in well with my pals.
He was a fun guy, may he Rest In Peace.



Joe was a special man and a fantastic cousin.  I’m still in awe of his visit to Kalamazoo several years ago to listen to my music trio play one Friday evening.  It was a good visit, full of stories, laughter, and love.   His ever-present grin was infectious and charming and his warmth to everyone, especially family, will be greatly missed.  Hugs to all the Bannigans and love you all!   

“Joey” was a special part of my life for as long as I can remember. A special cousin and a person whose smile spread joy to all.  
I am saddened and so sorry for your loss.  Going home on All Saints Day was so appropriate.  Dave and I send our prayers.

I loved visiting the Bannnigans. I remember most his smile and kind demeanor.
