Frances Geraldine Brown was born on December 7, 1931, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., ten years before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. She was born to her proud parents, Hobart Garrett Mallory from the state of New York, and Gladys Willis Knox from the state of Virginia. Her parents were blessed with five additional daughters and two sons. Yes, Frances’ parents were “old school” and therefore had a total of eight children. All of Frances Geraldine Brown’s siblings are predeceased. Her sisters were Ruth, Evangeline, Marie, Shirley, and Gwen; her brothers were Kenneth and Garrett.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in the Hyde Park area of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. where she participated on the girls basketball, tennis, and swimming teams. Frances Geraldine Brown was the epitome of a selfless, exceptional servant who derived maximum joy from participating in an abundance of activities with her family. She enjoyed playing classic board games such as Parcheesi, Scrabble, Trouble, and Bingo. She also enjoyed fishing and she was an outstanding gardener. She would spend long hours “doing work” in the garden that God had provided her. When inside her home and sanctuary, she would extensively watch praise and worship services in addition to tennis and news programs.
On December 12th, 1958, Frances Geraldine Mallory, also affectionately known as “Gerry”, married the love of her life, Hosea Brown Jr., at a small Baptist church in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Under God’s guidance, and with the full blessings of mutual, marital submission and agreement, Frances Geraldine Brown moved with her husband, Hosea Brown Jr., to Los Angeles, California where they became active members of Ajalon Temple of Truth, a Baptist church in Compton, California. Frances served faithfully as a “Sunday School” teacher in her capacity as an elder “Mother” of the church.
God blessed their marriage with an abundance of children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Their children are the oldest twins, Dennis and Denise, their daughter Dolores in the middle, and their youngest son, Hosea III. Their grandchildren are Antonio, Sequoya, Hosea IV, Crystal, Dennis Jr, and Jenise. Their great-grandchildren include, but are not limited to Caiden, Cailah, Autumn, Nahla, Jhevon, Logan, Morgan Lee, and Isaiah. Furthermore, Frances is survived by a multitude of great grandchildren, family, and friends that is quite simply too numerous to count.
On the morning of November 11, 2019, at 9:00am, Frances Geraldine Brown was welcomed Home into the loving arms of Jesus Christ.
