Jośe Andrade Garcia (a.k.a. Jośe Varinha), age 75, of Los Banos, California, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of November 22, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 21, 1944 in Quatro Ribeiras, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Andrade Garcia and Maria Luz Ormonde.
In 1970 he married his lovely wife Rosa and began a family. They moved to the states 2 years later with a young son and another on the way. Jośe began a life as a dairyman until retiring in 2010 to care for his ailing wife who later passed away in March of 2012. Jośe was a hard worker, loving husband, father, and provided selflessly for his family and made sure none went without. He loved to fish and would do it as often as he possibly could. Family vacations consisted of weeklong trips to Pismo Beach, California. Jośe was a simple man but enjoyed life and his family. He was always willing to give someone a good laugh. There was no point in asking what Jośe had planned because everyone knew that the answer was always "I'm go fish." Jośe served in the Portuguese army for 4 years.
Jośe is survived by his three children Joe Garcia (Connie), Mark Garcia (Martha), and Melissa Garcia-Perry (Norman), all of Los Banos. He is also survived by his three grandchildren: Mark Anthony, Matthew, and Miranda Garcia along with three sisters, one brother and countless nieces and nephews. Jośe was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Paim Garcia to whom he was with for 42 years.
A visitation for Jośe will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service, 286 W. Main Street, Turlock, California. A recitation of the rosary will follow the visitation.
A funeral mass will occur at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph's Catholic Church, 1621 Center Avenue, Los Banos, California.
