Melvin served in the U.S, Marine Corp and was honored to have been a part of "the proud, the few". He spent over 50 years as big rig truck driver and loved every minute of it. Even when he almost slid off a cliff in an ice storm, he would not give it up. One of his proudest accomplishments was to have driven 3 million mile without an accident.
He was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and talked often about Heaven.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Son Melvin Jr, and wife Lynn of Plano
Son Jason Cravens and wife Isela of El Paso
Sister Geneva Myers of Amarillo
Sister Ila Kibler of Amarillo
6 grandchildren
Special niece Myra Boothby of Amarillo
Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2019 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, December 3, 2019 at Memorial Park Funeral Home’s Chapel of Memories with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, TX.
