Martha Rebecca (Collier) Harbison, age 77, of Irvington, Alabama, born on September 7, 1942 to Chester Adolf Collier and Agnes Nettie Barnes gained her wings on Monday December 23, 2019. Without a doubt, Martha was a mother above all. She loved to cook and have a house full. Always making sure the family was attended to and cared for. She raised her own children and opened her home to many-extras-always welcoming them as her own.
Her love for children was shown while gathering them all daily to attend every practice and football game possible. She was dedicated, as was shown through her nurturing ways, kind heart and love for every she encountered.
Martha was a nurse by trade. She worked at Alba and when she was not busy with her home life she enjoyed volunteering at Volunteers of America and The American Red Cross. She is loved and will be remembered by many.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Willie R Harbison, Sr., parents; Chester Adolf and Agnes Nettie Collier Harbison. three children; Peggy Wade, Trudy Harbison and Shanna Harbison. Grandson Ricky Ross Harris, Jr and a great grandchild SäMaira Lyons. Survivors include her children; Willie R. Harbison, Cindy (Tony) Young and Jason Harbison. twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
A visitation for Martha will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at San Souci Baptist Church, 9299 Cain Street, Coden, AL. Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM, 9299 Cain Street, Coden, AL . A burial will occur at Odd Fellow Cemetery, Bayou La Batre, Alabama.
