Dexter "Yoyo" K. Colston Jr.

YoYo/Dexter passed away peacefully at home on December 29th, 2019 with their best friend Courtney and loved ones by their side. From day one of this battle, YoYo/Dexter and their Dark Lady family shared their deep appreciation of the support, encouragement, and comfort offered by friends and the Providence Queer community. The stories shared and overwhelming gestures will always be cherished in our hearts.

After a year of battling cancer, they ran out of options to fight the relentless disease, but decided rather than be sad to get louder. We all know how special it was to witness on a daily basis the incredible advocacy work for often misrepresented groups that YoYo/Dexter did-- from Pride, World Aids Day, and their reign as Miss Gay RI 2018 to just name a few. They poured everything into helping this community through service and drag. Now it’s our duty to carry the torch and continue to fight for what is just. For Ignorance = Fear... Silence= Death.. Fights AIDS Act Up!

Yoyo/Dexter loved animals, especially their dogs Daisy and Charles who are often the center of attention in the home they shared with Courtney. Celebrate Yoyo/Dexter’s life and love for animals by making a Memorial Gift Donation to the Providence Animal Rescue League (P.A.R.L) in their name.
