Although I knew Norman Aripotch (he'll always be Mr. Aripotch to me!) since I was probably 6 years old, I feel like I never really knew him until the last 4 or 5 years, when Susan would come down from Maine to visit & invite me for dinner. We'd have these lively conversations about politics, current events, historical events—even pop culture. I was in awe of the breadth of knowledge Mr. Aripotch had. It was such a lovely surprise to discover that this quiet man who I knew for so many years as just a nice man of few words, was really a deeply intelligent, thoughtful man with a lot to say. I’m sorry for all the years I didn’t take the time to get to know him, but grateful for the last few years that I did....

I am sorry for your family's loss. I knew Norm from decoy carving circles and had the utmost respect for him. A true GENTLE MAN in every sense.

Norman was a true inspiration.  He was the quintessential local hardware store owner.  He knew where everything was and how to fix everything. 
He was honorable, we loved his sense of humor.  Loved his stories...
We were honored to know him.

Rest In Peace Norm, now you are with Mary and all of your gang up there. Always will remember all the visits to your store!
You were always a great mentor and friend. You will be sorely missed by all of us. Thank you for your sharing and caring for all of us!

I’ll always remember Norm’s generosity and kindness to kids. I was about 8 years old in 1958 when I needed a bag of nails for a tree fort I was building behind what is Flanagans today at 367 Dear Park Ave. only had a nickel..... he filled a bag up to the top requiring triple bagging and the use of a wagon tied to the back of my bike. He asked if it was enough and said if I needed more to come back with the empty bags for a refill and no extra charge 🙂...that was the Norman I knew and later served in the BABYLON FIRE  DEPT .... PHOENIX HOSE  also as ex CAPTAIN. A truly great man as a great roll model 🇺🇸

So sorry for your loss.  Your dad was a great man whose quiet disposition touched many lives.  I remember many nights, as I waited for my dad to come home,  our paths would cross in the parking lot or at the little dock.  He also was a tremendous help when we needed something from the paint store.  Always a smile and helping hand.  My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time.
