Touched by this cowboys story in Alabama. I lost my cowboy of 35 yrs to cancer when he was only 51. His ashes are buried with his horse. I’m sorry you’re gone Kevin, but thank you for being a good man , a good citizen and role model. Seems those are in short supply these days. Move over John Wayne, Kevin’s riding in. 

I saw the extremely moving story and video online  of Mr. Adkins visiting his beloved horse one last time.  I didn’t know him but I would like to send his family and friends my deepest sympathy and prayers on their loss.  May God Bless and comfort you at this sad time.  Beth Nee, Maine 


I first actually met Kevin at a Ned Ledoux Concert in Cedarvale Ks. 2 years ago. We had dozens of mutual friends and we were Facebook friends before actually meeting. I can not remember meeting a more friendly and and immediately LIKEABLE person. He had an easy smile, cordial and genuine handshake and he was as so immediately likable I left thinking,.. wow,. What a gentleman.  I did not know him WELL,.  although we continued to chat on Facebook . I had an IMMEDIATE respect for him,...and did recognize that he was a genuine and rare person. God speed Kevin.  

I met Kevin in High School Sociology class and we became friends  instantly.  We would talk about rodeo in class and occasionally got in trouble for it.  We went different ways after High School  and met a few years ago and it was like we had never been apart.  Kevin always had a smile for anyone and treated everyone like he'd known them all his life. You don't see that much in people.

I met Kevin one time when in came to Oklahoma with my sister in law Cindy. He was the sweetest man. And his smile was wonderful. We all visited for a while. I learned who he was and felt as if I had known him forever. We became friend on Facebook which we followed we others life’s, jokes, quotes, and pictures. I learned through this how much he loved his daughter, his horse and being the best he could. This world lost a great person but I will remember who he is and how he became my friend in just one visit and Facebook. RIP my friend. 

A Cowboy's Prayer......

I've been a long time coming, Lord, 
But now, I'm riding in.
I see those gates just shining, 
Where no pain is felt within.

I heard the angels singing, Lord, 
When they came to escort me.
They let me ride my favorite horse
On in to eternity.

I'm thankful for my days on earth, 
And my friends & family there below.
They knew quite well my time had come, 
But they grieved to see me go.

I ask that you give them comfort, Lord, 
For I'm in a better place.
Please let them know that I rest in peace, 
Thanks to your matchless grace.

Please let them know that I love them, Lord, 
And all fear has been put aside.
I will wait for a grand reunion, 
When they, too, cross the Great Divide.

I have not known Kevin or your family, but am totally touched by the video of Kevin's wish to see and feed his horse.  May God bless Kevin, your family and friends.
