Michael James Thomas, Sr. 64 of McDonough, GA died February 6, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Billie Thomas. Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Hite Thomas, his son Michael James Thomas, Jr. and daughter-in-law Kenzie Thomas, McDonough, GA and son Petty Officer Zachary Thomas, stationed in San Diego, CA; grandchildren Weston, Ava Lynn and Jaxson. He also leaves behind his Aunt Colleen Holloway, mother-in-law Pat Hite, sister-in-law Wanda Teal, brother-in-law Wayne Teal, brother-in-law Steven Hite, sister-in-law Pam Hite; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and lifelong friends. Mike was born on June 20, 1955 in Atlanta, GA. He was in the 1973 graduating class of Forest Park High School. Mike worked for Delta Airlines for 34 years and he also worked for the Henry County Water Authority through 2019. Mike had many personal interests which include the love of all music but especially old time rock-n-roll. All sports, but was a big Georgia Bulldog fan, along with the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves. He helped coach his son James in soccer and baseball when he was younger. He loved water skiing. He had a love for racing, definitely a NASCAR fan, but had his own car that he raced at Dixie Speedway, and was a good driver himself. He was a huge Old Car Guy too. Last but not least had the love for fishing with the kids and grandkids. Mike and his family attended Community Bible Church, Stockbridge, GA. Mike was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
