Margaret was born on February 8, 1931 in Franklinton, North Carolina.
Margaret was a vibrant and outgoing woman. She looked forward to planting her summer flowers, kept an impeccable house, home cooked meals and desserts were served with ease and enjoyed by many around her table. She was very social and especially loved visiting with her family and friends. Her favorite hobby was shopping- taking great delight in buying for others as much as for herself.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Pamela J. Burton (John Burton) and son, John C. Long (Lois Long). She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Joel M. Burton (Heather Burton), Erin Burton Nail (Jared Nail), Jason C. Long, as well as her adoring great grandchildren, Alyssa Burton, Trey Burton, Tris Burton, Ryleigh Nail, Marshall Nail, Maggie Long, and Taylor Schaller; and sister, Edna Nelson. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cabot Excell Long; her father, Alvah T. Strother; her mother, Zella Byrd Hester; her sisters, Mary Brown, and Valeria Cobb; and her brothers, Linville Strother, and Alan Strother.
