Leroy Trent Matthews

August 24, 1927 – June 13, 2020

Leroy Trent Matthews, 92, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2020 in Wilmer, Alabama. Leroy was enlisted with the United States Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for many years. Leroy enjoyed working in his flower beds, and was a member of the local American Legion.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Forney and Thelma Trent Matthews; one brother, Pete Olsen; and sister, Helen Palmer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise Miller Matthews; two sons, James W. Matthews (Karen French) and Paul T. Matthews; grandson, Jacob (Mallery) Matthews; granddaughter, Allison Matthews; five great-grandchildren, Aleczander, Paisley Rose, Emma Grace, Becca, and Kirsten; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.

Visitation for Leroy will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway, with a chapel service immediately following. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
