Martin “Marty” Lee Angel of Forney, Texas passed away at Baylor University Medical Center, surrounded by his wife and family, on Friday, June 12 at the age of 60. Marty was born on August 28, 1959 in Peoria, Illinois, and was raised by parents Richard and Vivian Koeppel.
He grew up as the eldest of four and attended Woodruff High School. After high school, he attended the Airforce Academy Preparatory School and then received his Bachelor of Computer Science from Illinois State University.
Marty married his soulmate, Dawn Angel, in 1998. Holding multiple management positions, Marty worked at Country Financial for 32 years, ending as the Director of Business Retirement and Wealth Services.
Following his retirement, Marty moved to Texas to ease into retirement by allowing Dawn to continue to work and focus on his lifelong role: the family man.
Marty is survived by his wife, Dawn Angel; his sons, Chad (Lexi), Darin (Kristen) and Zack (Britney) Angel; his daughters, Katie (Aaron) Matej, Shannon and Molly Angel; his dad, Rich Koeppel and his brothers, Tim and Jeff Angel; and six grandchildren, Collin, Haylie, Ben, Parker, Mya and Harrison.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian and brother, Robb. Marty was known for his unwavering sense of humor and contagious, bellowing laughter. He loved his family very much and will be forever missed.
A celebration of Marty’s life will be August 8, 2020 from 2:00p.m.- 5:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
