With faith in the promises of our Lord, Jesus Christ, it is with sadness that the family of William (Bill) Amantea announces his passing into eternal life, on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at the age of 88 years old. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Alice, and his children, Chris (Yvonne), Denise (Chris), Laura (Patrick), Laurie (Ronnie), and Rhiannon (Joey). Bill will also be fondly remembered by his six grandchildren—Lloyd, Adriana, Forrest, Larry, Maegan, and Dylan—and his great grandchildren.
Bill was a native Californian. He attended high school at C.K. McClatchy, where Bill met his wife and the love of his life—Alice. After dating for three years, they married on July 25, 1954 and have been together ever since, as a wonderful testament to the sacrament of matrimony. After graduating from Sacramento State University, Bill served as a medic in the U.S. Navy. Thereafter, he pursued his career as a graphic artist, working at Aerojet General Corporation, and for the State of California—as a graphic artist for the California State Fair and for the California Prison Industry. He had a passion for art and he leaves behind a legacy of beautiful paintings and other artwork. Bill obtained his Masters’ Degree in Art History and taught night classes at Cosumnes River College. He was a long-time parishioner at Divine Savior Catholic Church in Orangevale.
Bill (and his wife) were long-time volunteers in various civic organizations and at his children and grandchildrens’ schools. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Due to the current health restrictions and heat the outdoor public visitation and rosary has been canceled, Mount Vernon Memorial park and the family apologizes and appreciates your condolences at this time. A private Funeral Service and Celebration of Life in memory of Bill will be held on Tuesday, August 4, at 10:00 a.m., at Mount Vernon. Interment will follow. At some point in the future, a Memorial Mass will be held at Divine Savior. Those who desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bill to the Alzheimer’s Association of Sacramento, located at 1455 Response Rd. #190, Sacramento, CA 95815.
In charity and kindness, please remember Bill and his family in your Masses and prayers. May he rest in peace.
