I will never forget the kindness from Jamesetta that helped me get thru x-ray school when I was a young girl.  All of the students were under her wing and were guided by  her patient teaching. Since I lived in Liberty, she also gave me a ride to school every day,never accepting any gas money from me.  The rides were sometimes entertaining, she was so funny,  or sometimes a much needed pep talk.
I remember my time with her fondly and offer my condolences to her children and grandson.  She was one in a million. 

Jamesetta “Jamie” is the very reason I became an employee at the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital in September of 1964.  She was a Radiological Technologist there, and informed me of an open Clerk/Typist position in the front office...and the rest is history..spanning 43 years of employment there.

She was the most caring and jovial person in the Radiology Department, and we were the beneficiaries of many of her delectable treats she frequently shared with us.

Jamie and her family was, and has been connected to my family as long as I can remember; and my love, prayers, and sincere condolences are being sent to Vicky, “Buster”, and the rest of her family and friends. ❤️🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽



I hold you James, my brother from  another mother, Ms. Jamesetta and you Vickie my sister from another mother, Ms. Jamesetta in the depth of my heart.  Know that my family is praying for your strength and God's grace and mercy. I have such fond memories when I would come to visit your mom while in town taking in plays at Kansas City Repertory Theatre.   Your mom would pick me up at my hotel take me to the casino for us to share a meal, or to her favorite barbecue place, Gates, I believe  - because of course Kansas had the best BBQ (and at that time I was still eating meat) or going to her cousin's house where together they would share stories, photos, make me laugh and if I was lucky a dance down memory lane all layered in love of self, pride in who we are as Black people, strength in our heritage, courage in our stance as women and happiness in family being together.  Thank you for sharing your mother with me and so many.  I am blessed to know her.

Thank you for always being a great person.  I remember you yelling at us while we were playing in the church yard and telling us to tell Mark to get home.  Those were great days and you always had a smile on you. 
Will miss your smile and the laugh that you had.  Spread your wings and fly home.

James, I recall the fond memories  you shared of your mother, especially since she and I shared the same birthday!  You and your family are in my prayers.

I have many fond memories of the Thomas family, Mr.  and Mrs. Thomas were the souls of kindness to me always.  My love,  prayers and wishes for the best go to Vicki and Buster. 

I trained under Jamesetta from 1972 to 1974 and later on worked  weekends  with  her. She was a joy to work with and we laughed most of the time! Jamesetta was truly a beautiful soul!

Mrs. Jamesetta Ash was a kind and generous woman of God. For the six years that I was the pastor of St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church, which was across the street from her home, I was blessed to share many visits with her. We laughed a lot about simple things. Whenever I served the Lord's Supper to her on the first Sunday of the month, she always welcomed me in with joy for that.  She supported all the programs and special occasions that went on at St. Luke AME Church.  She will be truly missed. I was heartbroken to hear of her passing. My condolences to her family does not express my sadness.

My friend, a mother figure, my girl Ms Jamesetta.  Even though my heart is heavy I know you are in a better place.  You have brought nothing but love, laughter and joy to my life and I’ll miss you dearly.  Vicky & Buster my condolences to you.  Your mother was one of a kind and may God bless and keep you both.
