He was a veteran, serving 10 years in United States Air Force and a member of the Kapperman Post 44 American Legion where he was Past Commander and served on the Honor Guard for many years; also member of the 40-8, Moose Lodge, Owls Lodge, Elks Lodge and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 427. Jerry was a former member of the Eville Iron Car Club and owner of Miles Scale Company. He enjoyed spending winters in Aransas Pass, Texas.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd Kermit Miles Jr. and Kenneth R. “Butch” Miles.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Eli) Miles of Newburgh; daughter, Yvonne Beavin (George) of Evansville; son, Brent Miles (Terri) of Newburgh; stepdaughter, Genci Bryant of Evansville; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sisters, Betty Miles and Joyce Harris both of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Military rites will be held graveside by the Kapperman Post #44. Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
