January 19, 1947 – August 21, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Clavelle announce her peaceful passing at home on August 21, 2020 at the age of 73 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Roger; children Christina (Ed), Michael (Beth), Andrea (Jason), and Bernie (Juli); grandchildren Stephanie, Erik, Matthew, Ashley, Luke, Norah, Noah, Lilja, and Mia; siblings Bernie (Orian), Michael (Gladys), and Edie (John); numerous nieces and nephews, and a large and loving clan of Clavelles. She will also be dearly missed by her many friends in her faith community all over the world, including Perth, Australia, Blaine Lake, Saskatoon and Guatemala.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alice (nee Paradis) and Anthony Tapp; and sisters Carmen, Vida, Marina and Iris.
Evelyn was born in Barachois de Malbaie, Quebec, the youngest of eight children. After the deaths of her parents, Evelyn went to live with her sister Iris. She became a banker, first in Toronto, then in Vancouver, where her bank was robbed. This experience sent her back East to a branch in Montreal, just in time for Expo ’67, where she met a handsome young man from Saskatchewan who swept her off her feet. She and Roger were married on April 20, 1968 and became an inseparable team, raising four children to have a strong foundation and values.
Evelyn was always a passionate advocate for health, operating Old Fashion Foods in Watrous (1988-2003), and was never happier than when she could use her knowledge to help people achieve wellness. She was very strong in her faith and, with Roger, was always willing to serve her faith community. In recent years she and Roger spent time learning about and supporting the Society of St Pius X, even travelling to Guatemala to visit and help the community there. Wherever she went, Evelyn gave of herself to help others.
Memorial donations will be gratefully accepted to the St. Alphonse Cemetery Fund c/o St. Alphonse Parish, Box 160 Viscount, SK S0K 4M0.
A private service will be held in Saskatoon,SK, with interment to follow at St. Alphonse Cemetery in Viscount on Thursday, August 27th, 2020. Arrangements entrusted to Jennifer Wildeman of Acadia-McKague's Funeral Centre 306-955-1600.
