Hasmukhbhai "Sam" Patel

Hasmukhbhai Lallubhai Patel was born on August 19th, 1952 in Jinja, Uganda. He was the youngest of eight children born to Lallubhai and Gangaben Patel. After attending Jinja Senior Secondary High School he moved to London to attend Melton Mowbray Business College graduating with a degree in Accounting. He moved to the United States with his family in 1982 and settled in Des Moines, IA.

Hasmukhbhai was known for his smile, endearing chuckle, and debonair sense of style. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and his family and friends. He had a fierce work ethic “retiring” from being a successful motel owner and settling down by working three jobs. These three jobs, all in the hospitality industry, suited his generous spirit and love of travel. He was always willing to help others without question. Most recently he traveled to South Africa and New Zealand.

Hasmukhbhai is survived by his beloved wife, Manuben Patel; his children: Shilpa Patel (Drummond Lindsey), Hasmita (Nathan) Vaughn, and Rajane Patel; his brothers: Natubhai (Sumiben) Patel, Kishorebhai (Kantaben) Patel, Harishbhai (Kokiben) Patel; his sisters: Nirmalaben (Dahyabhai) Patel, Taraben (Kantibhai) Patel, Kusumben Bharti, and his grandchildren: Jasmine Vaughn, Myles Vaughn, Asha Lindsey, and Brooks Lindsey. We find peace in the fact that Hasmukhbhai now joins his parents Lallubhai and Gangaben Patel, his sister, Pharvatiben (Bhavanbhai) Patel, and brother-in-law Sunmukhbhai Bharti in eternity.
