We were close to Mike and Liz through nine years. They have gone above and beyond to be the best parents one could ever find. His life centered around their children. Always smiling and welcoming into their home. God bless and comfort Liz as she takes this difficult step into a new life. God bless their children and grandchildren who will undoubtedly miss Mike beyond measure.

 I had the honor of being a former Brother-in-law when I married your sister in 1968.  I enjoyed the times that I was able to be with you and your family.  Even today I am still a member.  I recall the last time we met was at the graduation of your niece from her LPN school.  I had not seen you in quite a while, but as always, we enjoyed many laughs and even a beer or two.  I also met another member of the unofficial family, David Dixon, through you and as he noted knowing you was a great privilege.   Your laughter, smile, and jokes were always enjoyable.  You were a devoted family man and found the one perfect lady for you in Elizabeth.
  I remember the first time I met with shortly after you went into the Coast Guard and were assigned in Mobile.  You told me you were now Beno.  Your team mates called you that and it stuck with you for a lifetime.
  I will miss you deeply as I have lost a brother this time and  know you will be up there watching over us.
  Rest in Peace, for as you deserve it after the way you touched so many here.   

I'll never forget the first time I met Beno. Being a Yankee, one of the first questions he asked was whether or not I had ever tried Sweet Tea (I had not). That night as he, Liz, Victoria, and I ate dinner (courtesy of Liz) he told me the story of how he had to teach a waitress up North how to make Sweet Tea, since us snowbirds were only used to Hot Tea! I never got tired of that story- his laugh alone was enough to make me smile.

No matter what, Beno always treated me with love and respect. He and I enjoyed playing Jeopardy together, as well as shouting at the television during Alabama games. I always had fun when Beno was around, especially when we teased each other or discussed all the films we loved to watch. I am going to miss him more than words describe.

Beno, I promise to take good care of Victoria and your furry grandbabies (even if they'll never be as good-looking as you are!). I love you like my own father, and I know you'll be watching over us all until we are ready to join you in the Afterlife. Give my Papa and Great-Ma a hug for me, and know you will be in our hearts forever 💜

You will always be my daddy. You are my hero and role model. Every move and every step is for you. I have such a beautiful life because of your guidance and support over the years. I am so proud to be your daughter - daddy's little girl. I love that I was finally able to take you for a Maine lobster the last time you were up North. I am going to miss our morning coffee talks on my porch with you and mom in the mornings. We became best friends over the past couple of years and I feel so lost without you!

I have so many memories, I don't even know where to begin. I am destroyed that you are no longer here, but I feel your spirit in everything I do.
I miss you and I love you more than you can even imagine. 

I can't wait to wrap my arms around you again one day! Say hello to all our loved ones up there and tell Mr. Bear what he has missed over the years.

I moved to Savannah in 1973 from Miami and met Rene and right off the bat we were like brothers and I was ALWAYS welcome at his parents house.  We both were military bound and ended up going in diff directions, but we remained close friends and saw each other and shared special moments and memories as we could.  I always wanted to go into L/E and he and I and another friend Otto always had nick names and just paled around the town.  I drove a 68 Camaro SS and he  always had to crack on me and (started it)  always called me "1-Adam-Ro" after the TV series, 1-Adam-12.  Well through the years that stuck with me and whenever we talked in person or on the phone he never failed to  call me that, and yes I did go into L/E after getting out of the Air Force and retired from the Savanah P.D.  He was and will always be a Dear friend and I will treasure our crazy times, our talks and most of all our friendship. Thank you to his family for allowing me to be a part of their family and the  great times we all had together.   My Heart, Thoughts and Prayers go out to  Rene's Family,  extended family and all of the others who were blessed to be his friend as I was. Rest in Peace my friend.......... 1-Adam-Ro.......out.
