Vernon Thomas “Bud” Cooksey, 88, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020 at his home in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born in Evansville, IN on May 11, 1932 to the late Wilbur Samuel and Mina Louisa (Burgdorf) Cooksey.
Bud was a retired Materials Manager of Whirlpool Corporation. He was a former president of American Production and Inventory Control Society, Bost Human Development Center, and Fort Smith Rose Society. His memberships include the following: Fort Smith Parks Board, Sword of Bunker Hill, AR Valley Antique Tractor Club, Consulting Rosarian, Lessing Masonic Lodge #464 (50 year), and Shriner with Egypt Temple (Tampa FL). He was a certified government driver for DAV.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Wilda Cooksey, Clarine James Heseman, and Mamylee Hamman.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Joyce “Joy” Cooksey; daughters, Sheila Goodfellow (Robert) and Suzanne Cowne (Neal); son, Bruce Thomas Cooksey (Cindy); sister, Kathleen Parker; grandchildren, Megan Cowne, Troy Cowne and Greyson Goodfellow; and several nieces, nephews, and family.
A private graveside service will be held at Bethlehem U.C.C. Cemetery.
