Jean H. Overstreet

She was born August 19, 1931 to the late Boyd F. Hatcher, Sr and Opal Vines Hatcher. Jean was born in Dott, West Virginia. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Jim, Buster and Jack. She is preceded in death by her sisters Marie, Ruth, Pat and Francis.

Ms. Overstreet came to Nashville in 1950. She was employed at the National Life and Accident Insurance company for 31 years. She rose from her file clerk position and retired as an Officer in the Mortgage and Loan department.

She met the "love of her life", Doug Overstreet and married on May 21, 1955. They adopted their daughter and their family was complete when her Mother decided to live with the family, in Nashville.

Jean and Doug were avid bowlers and active members of the Brenthaven Cumberland Presbyterian church in Brentwood.

Her husband Doug, preceded her in death on March 16, 2006. Ms. Overstreet is survived by her daughter, Mona Overstreet and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Jean was greatly loved by her family and friends.

Jean had not experienced any Covid symptoms or felt bad until the morning of September 9th. Her blood pressure was elevated and an ambulance was called. She received a Covid test, at the hospital and that's the first the family knew she had encountered this illness.

Due to being in the specialized care unit, family was not allowed to see her or speak to her on the phone. On Monday September 21, nursing staff contacted the family to allow a visit because of her advancing medical condition. She received the most compassionate care and kindness from the Physicians/staff while in the ICU unit at St. Thomas West Hospital.

On Tuesday morning her little body could not keep fighting. Her heart rate declined until she took her last breath.

A private family burial will be conducted on Saturday, October 10th.
