After she graduated from King George High School in 1970, she became a secretary for over forty years. She retired in 2016 from Williams Mullen, formally Maupin Taylor in Raleigh, N.C after 25 years of service.
Her hobbies included reading, spending time with her family, and caring for her beloved cats. Carol had a great since of humor and was lovingly known as “The crazy cat lady”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Parthenia N Surles; a brother, Otis L. Newton; a brother in law, Norman D. Vickers; and a niece, Leachim B. Newton.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn A. Holder (Steve) of Wendell, N.C; two granddaughters, Brooke L Coates of Wendell, N.C and Kendall T. Edwards (Daquane) of Middlesex, N.C; a brother, S. Lee Newton (Mildred) of Stafford; two sisters, Irene M. Newton and Linda D. Vickers, both of Spotsylvania; an aunt, Annie Ruth Catlett (Robert) of Stafford; a brother in law, Robert M. Surles of Stafford; a sister in law, Beverly E. Newton of King George and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
