Barry Steven Mayo, 62, of Waynesboro passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Augusta Health. He was born in Waynesboro on November 29, 1957, a son of the late Clyde Adam, Jr. and Vanessa Mae (Berry) Mayo.
Barry was an accomplished musician and he was most well known for playing in his band the Country Gamblers. He also enjoyed drinking Coca-Cola, relaxing by the beach, riding his motorcycle, watching racing, and spending time with his family. Barry was a member of Faith, Hope, and Love Fellowship, a member of the Verona Moose Lodge, and an active member of the Waynesboro Moose Riders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Christy (Mayo) Soper.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Clyde Mayo, Erica (Mayo) Ham, and Julia Mayo; siblings: Greg Mayo and wife, Sherri, Mike Mayo and wife, Monica, and Rebecca Early and husband, Jerry; grandchildren: Zoey Long, McKayla Mayo, Zachary Mayo, Skyler Mayo, Miley Mayo, Sadie Sandridge, Kylee Mayo, and soon to be, Axton Creed Perry and Autumn Marae Perry; mother of his children and the forever love of his life, Debbie Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday October 11, 2020 at Faith, Hope, and Love Fellowship, 1532 2nd St. Waynesboro, VA, with Pastors Doug Brooks, Sr., Randall Black, and David Sandy officiating. Following the service at the church, please join the family in a celebration of life service at the Waynesboro Moose Lodge.Following Barry’s wishes, cremation will follow the service.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.Those wishing to attend are asked to please wear a facial mask and practice social distancing.
Active pallbearers will be Clyde Mayo, Zachary Mayo, Greg Mayo, Mike Mayo, Chester Alford, Chase Perry, Joshua Ham and Hunter Wade.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Augusta Health, and Augusta Health Wound Clinic for their loving care of Barry and his family.
