Rita and I grew up on Holly Street. Many times we were just hanging out on the front steps on the corner. I have a picture of her and I the first day of kindergarten, standing on our front steps. She was quite a gal. My condolences to the family.

Rita, you were an amazing blessing in our lives!  You were not only someone with whom I worked at UMB, but you spent countless nights at our home caring for our babies (dogs) and watching over our home in our absence.  You have your own room and bath, and my heart weeps every time I pass there.  You were family to us.  Your generosity, kindness, and fun loving spirit will be greatly missed.  Thank you for loving us and for everything you've done.  I love you!

Rita has been a part of the Lantz/Shoopman family longer than I have and I’ve been part of it for 39 years. There are just too many memories to think of any specific one to share. She was always a big part of the family. She was very special and will be missed

I am so sorry to hear of Rita's passing. I have such fond memories of her and your parents living across from us on Holly St. One of many was the annual summer picnic your mom sponsored for us to Swope Park Zoo. My sister, Cathy and I were also included on outings to go swimming and the movies and enjoy the sound of her mom's  piano. But my favorite was the adventure of Rita's attic. Stored there were prom and bridesmaid dresses we loved to parade in pretending we were in a beauty pageant. Please take comfort in the lasting effects of your family's  simple kindness on the lives of many neighborhood kids.

So very sorry to learn of Rita's passing. I have wonderful memories of her and babysitting for her at their home on Holly Street. The Buchmueller 's were a wonderful family and neighbors.

I am sorry for your loss in Rita's passing. She and I were childhood best friends growing up on Holly Street. I spent countless hours at the Buchmueller's exploring their awesome attic, playing board games, and concocting mud pies in the backyard. I always felt loved and welcomed in their home. My condolences  to Rita family.  I worked with Rita @ UMB.  I clearly remember when Rita first came to work @ UMB Bank.   Rita demeanor was direct if you needed assistance she would help and would admit if she didn't, but would find out and get back with you directly.  I will always remember Rita laugh.  One asset I will always remember about  Rita, her memory she could recall her inter actions with customer or documents recently submitted, definitely an asset to UMB Bank.

I have worked with Rita for the last 15 years. My kids always knew her as the Candy Lady.  She always had a bowl of candy or treats near her desk for others to enjoy. I would slip her a $5 bill every now and then, because I knew she was paying for the sweet treats out of her own pocket. At first she would march the money right back to me, but I would always tell her "I'm grown, and if I want to give you money, I can do that." She would always smile and say thanks! She was always so nice, a bit misunderstood at times, but was always a giving and generous person. She will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Rita-Rita!!
