Herbert Earl Fondren, age 82, of Centreville, Alabama passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Herbert was born January 19, 1938 in AL. He is survived by one son, Frederick Earl Fondren (Brenda) of Northport, two daughters, Melissa Ann Hicks (Martin) of Alabaster, and Beverly Renee Stewart (Alan) of Centreville six grandchildren, Charity Fondren, Jason Fondren, Nathaniel Hicks, Rachel Hicks, Savannah Stewart, and Ben Stewart, and one great-grandson, Colton Fondren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edna Kynard Fondren, his parents Richmond Doss and Audrey Coley Fondren, brothers JD Fondren, RV Fondren, Clarence Fondren, Henry Fondren, and Watson Fondren, sisters, Rozelle Colburn, Odell Aultman, and Idell Colburn. Herbert was a member of Lake Payne Church of God for 50 years and retired from Phifer Wire Products after 54 years and six months of service as a mechanic. Herbert enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening, and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger and loved to talk to anyone who would listen.
A visitation for Herbert will be held Monday, November 9, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lake Payne Church Of God, 17100 Coretta Scott King Hwy, Marion, Al. 36756. A funeral service will occur Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Lake Payne Church of God, burial will occur Monday, November 9, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Methodist Church Cemetery, Greensboro, Alabama
Serving as pallbearers are Daryl Fondren, Tim Fondren, David Fondren, R,V, Jr. Fondren, Jason Fondren, Toni Fondren and Ricky Kynard.
