Delbert (Gene) Smothers was born in West Frankfort Illinois and moved to Pensacola in his late teens. He owned and operated Warrington Jewelers from the early 1960’s to 1991.
Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, Hazel Smothers, his son, Stephen (Cheryl) of Pensacola and granddaughter Lindsay, his daughter Theresa Knight (Mike) of Moyock, NC, Hazel’s children David Kirby (Janice) of New Hebron, MS and Deborah Smisek (Rick) of DeLand, FL, 3 grandchildren (Shannon, Adam, Jessica), 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Gene is preceded in death by brothers Johnny, Kenny, Dwight, and Dick, and sister Ethel Jochumson.
Gene is survived by twin sisters Morene Quarton and Lorene Joy, both of Illinois.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and guest one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Delbert's memory may be made to Emerald Coast Hospice; and Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
