Richard Alexander Fegan, 92, a resident of Prattville, AL, passed away on November 13, 2020. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel. Graveside services will be on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 12:00PM at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery near Honoraville (at the intersection of Butler County road 50 and Mt. Zion Road). Mr. Fegan was born in Bangor County Down, Northern Ireland and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Chaplain, known as Brother Richard, serving for more than 30 years with the jail ministry of both the city and county. He also was involved with Christian outreach programs with the Department of Youth Services (DYS) for more than 30 years. Mr. Fegan was also active with Father Purcell’s homeless ministry. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Fegan; and three sisters, Helen, Evelyn and Dorothy. Mr. Fegan is survived by a son and daughter in law, Patrick and Jeanine Fegan; two daughters, Colleen Fegan and Mavourneen Batte; two sisters, Jean James and Frances Coey; four grandchildren; Tiffany Shuffield, Megan Cigelske, Kelsey Fegan, Evan Fegan; and two great grandchildren, Resse and Wyatt Shuffield. Flowers will be accepted, or donations can be made to the Gideon’s or to Prattmont Baptist Church in memory of Richard Alexander Fegan.
