Coby Brandon Seckinger

Coby Brandon Seckinger of Saint Johns, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on December 14, 2020. Coby was born January 14, 1978 in Beaufort, South Carolina. The son of a career Marine officer, Coby was privileged to live and learn in several states, which contributed to his outgoing nature!

Coby graduated from Fletcher High School, Neptune Beach, FL in 1996. He attended Young Harris College, FSCJ, and graduated from the Saint Johns River Community College December 12, 2003 with an Associates Degree.

He joined the St. Johns County Sheriffs Office March 8, 2004.(Yet another opportunity to make new friends…) Coby’s positions with the Agency include SR Law Enforcement Deputy, SR SIU Detective, and Patrol Shift leader. The teams and committees in which he participated include K9 Unit, Training Advisory Committee, Clandestine Lab Enforcement Team, Field Training and Evaluation Committee, and Law Enforcement Outreach Group.

Coby received several commendations and awards: Sheriff’s Unit Award, Joshua E. Blyer Award, Exceptional Service Award, Combat Medal, Ten Year Commendation, Sherriff’s Commendation, Lifesaving Award and Meritorious Service Award.

Coby leaves behind a loving family. (“What are we going to do without Coby?” became the question.) He could always be counted on to bring everyone together.

Coby is survived by his wife, Lauren Cogswell Seckinger and daughter Mallory Dreu Seckinger, who were the loves of his life. He also leaves his parents, Lynn and Bridget Seckinger of Atlantic Beach FL and his younger brother Scott Seckinger (Rachel), nephew Sam and niece Charley of Tampa FL; his grandmother, Stella Seckinger of Rincon GA and a slew of aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss him everyday.

Coby’s sense of humor, love for those around him, and creativeness are the things we will always have in our hearts.

Services for Coby Seckinger will take place Monday, 2 pm, at Celebration Church, 9555 R G Skinner Parkway. Masks are required.

In lieu of flowers, donations to K9 United and Ronald McDonald House will be appreciated.
