She was born August 9, 1929 in Glasford, to Hiram and Margaret Verna (Asbell) Coats. She married James O. Melsby on August 26, 1955. He preceded her in death May 3, 1989.
Eunice worked as a bookkeeper in the Mount Prospect area for many years. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect.
She is survived by one sister, Ila Faye Tuttle of Chillicothe; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers: Cecil, Ronald, Dennis, Owen, Kenneth and Virgil; and four sisters: Colleen Weese, Margaret Jean Morris, Lela Williams and Maxine Murphy.
A funeral service will be held for Eunice on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 am at Davison-Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. Rev. Dr. Gregory Coates will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Lancaster Cemetery in Glasford.
