Mrs. Concetta Minopoli was born August 23, 1938 in Naples, Italy. She had a challenging childhood when her mother died leaving her alone at the tender age of 11. She stayed at home to raise her brother until she was 15. She then began working to aid in the support of her family where she met her husband Ferdinando Minopoli while working for his sister. Married to her husband for 37 years before his passing she was a dedicate wife.
Helping to fulfill her husband’s dreams, she joined him as they immigrated to the US in 1966. There they both began a life with meager resources. Working tirelessly day and night often sleeping only a few hours they persevered. Raising their children, learning a new language, studying hard to become United States citizens they assimilated. The once quite Italian women began to find her voice, find her strengthen and build a home.
Her highest level of dedication was always her family. Being “Nonna” was her life. Her grandkids got the absolute best of her giving her the happiest times of her life. She evolved again raising her grandchildren. Having the freedom to enjoy, participate, and have fun with each of them gave her strength to continue after the death of her husband and refocus. And refocus she did, living through and for them, her smiles occurred when they were near. The more of them around and happier she was.
Nonna departed this life Monday, December 21, 2020 in her home after a long struggle with several physically debilitating illnesses. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Ciro (Denise) Minopoli, Nunzia (Friedrich) Metz, Aimee (Harold) Ramsey and Tony (Stacie) Minopoli; grandchildren Cassandra (Evan), Erica (Zachariah), Alexander, Kimberly (Jeffery), Ciro, Brandon, Adam, Zachary, Chrissy (Jake), Carrie, Daniel, Sean (Amanda) and Crystal (Todd); twelve great grandchildren; brother, Antonio (Elvira) Prezioso Naples, Italy; sister-in-law, Margherita Minopoli, Maryland, MD; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
