Brian Vassil, 49, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020. Brian, a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, is survived by his loving wife, Tanya Vassil; children, Brandi and Brandon Vassil; father, Steve Vassil; and brother, Jason Vassil. He is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Dixon Vassil.
Brian is a graduate of Kansas State University. He remained a lifelong learner and dedicated his life to a career as an educator, most recently at Westdale Middle School in Baton Rouge. Brian worked for more than 20 years--many of them focused on special education--teaching the next generation and cared deeply about his students. Brian loved the sciences, the outdoors (especially while on his boat) and above all, time spent with family. Gone too soon, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services, including a viewing, will be held, starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 15th at St. Margaret Queen of Scotland Catholic Church, 30300 Catholic Hall Road in Albany, Louisiana, and will be live-streamed via Ourso Funeral Home on Facebook.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Brian Vassil’s name to the American Heart Association.
