Hortencia Diaz Duran

Tencha was born on July 12, 1938 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico to Jose Angel and Benita Diaz. She was raised in Leon, Guanajuato. She then made the move to Visalia CA at the early age of 9 years old. She attended Visalia High School. Hortencia was married to Robert Duran for 50 years, who proceeded her in death. Together they had four children in which she is survived by, Rebecca (David) Scott, Victoria Duran, Robert (Rachel) Duran, and Ruben Duran. She was a wonderful & loving grandmother to ten grandchildren, Deseree, Tyler, Frankie, Isaiah, Vanessa, Cole, Lily, Aubrey, Andrea, and Cruz and was also blessed to have three great grandchildren, Anthony, Bobby, and Olivia.

Hortencia is survived by her brothers, Tony, Joe, Ruben, and Raul Diaz and sister Celia Jaime. She is proceeded in death by her brother Lorenzo Diaz and sisters Aurora Jaime, and Victoria Maldonado.

Tencha worked hard all of her life, mostly in factory work, where she made many friends along the way. Those who knew Tencha, knew her love of music. She loved to sing with the mariachi. You would always hear the sound of her voice echo in the house singing beautiful Spanish music. Tencha will always be remembered as a kind and sweet lady. She left many memories for us. She will be greatly missed and her legacy will live forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January, 18, 2021 from 4-6 pm at Miller’s Memorial Chapel with the Rosary being prayed at 5:00. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated outdoors on Tuesday January 19, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church.
