Dorothy L Griffith

Dorothy Griffith, age 95, of Fairlawn, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 5, 2024 surrounded by her family. Dottie was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Jesse and Henrietta Ford, the third of five sisters.

Dottie was first and foremost a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She married Charles Griffith in April 1950 and had five children. During the early years they transferred to several states before making Ohio their home. They were fortunate to travel extensively making many friends along the way. Charles passed in 1974. Afterwards, Dottie pursued a career at the Akron Board of Education in the Treasurer's office where she worked until she retired after 20 years of service. Working in her yard, traveling with friends and spending time with family brought her much joy.

Dorothy was a member of St. Hilary Church. She is survived by her sister Bonnie Conrad of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, her daughter Joyce Shorter (Gary), sons Mike (Judy Coppella), Rich (Christie), and Robert (Nata Munk) as well as grandchildren Beth and Amy Shorter, Kate Griffith, Mike Griffith, Jr., Ryan Griffith, Sara Griffith (Chris Sobray) and many nieces and nephews.

Dottie was preceded in death by husband Charles, son Charles, Jr., daughter-in-law Phyllis Griffith, parents Jesse and Henrietta, sisters and brothers-in-law Ruth Wills (JC), Anna Marie Schwab (Alfred), Shirley Sweet (Buddy), and Mark Conrad.

Per Dorothy's request there will be a private family service. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to St. Hilary Church in her memory, St. Hilary Church, 2750 W. Market St, Fairlawn, O. 44333 or to Miracle City Hospice, 7150 S. Hills Blvd. #100, Broadview Heights, OH 44147
