Eloise Arnold Singleton was born April 9, 1939 in St. Louis Missouri, the fifth child of twelve, to the late Arvella Clay and George Arnold. She attended Dumas Elementary and Hadley Tech High Schools before moving to Washington, D.C in 1963.
While living in Washington, D.C, she worked as a LPN, then RN, and served in the National Guard before making a temporary move to Akron, Ohio where she met and married William S. Singleton Jr. (who preceded her in death).
Moving back to D.C in 1985, Eloise heard her calling from within and enrolled in the Howard University School of Theology where she earned her PhD.
Dr. Singleton (as she liked to be called) once again relocated back to Akron, Ohio where she and her husband lived out their final retirement years.
Her legacy will continue to carry on through her cherished children: Joslin M. Arnold of Akron, Ohio, Kevin C. Arnold of Washington, D.C, Kermit E. Arnold of Washington, D.C, Elisa S Arnold of Akron, Ohio and two step-sons Kevin S. Singleton and Brian Singleton both of Akron, Ohio along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
