Bette (Chapin) Hallier 90, daughter of Gleason and Hazel (Kelsey) Chapin, born in Chicago, IL on February 15, 1934, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024. She was one of the first citizens to move into Elk Grove Village in 1957 and remained there until she passed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her beloved Jack, and brothers Clifford (Rose) Chapin and Donald (Ruth) Chapin. She is survived by her sister Helen (late Richard) Pavia, brother in-law Roger (Ruth) Hallier, daughters Julie (William) Fitzgerald, and Laurie Mercer, sons Stephen (Karen) Hallier and David (Thida) Hallier. She had 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bette grew up in Brookfield, IL and she spent many summers traveling to Tripola, Iowa to visit extended family where she enjoyed helping out on their farms. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois State University in Normal, IL and was an art teacher prior to raising her family. Bette was a longtime member of The Village Point Church and loved her Church family. Her hobbies were playing bridge, line dancing, she was on the Board of TOPS and a frequent Woodfield Mall walker. She also bowled in a neighbor league for many years and was an avid reader.
Family and Friends are welcome to attend a memorial celebration of her life on May 23, 2024 at Lauterburg and Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 East Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights, Illinois with a visitation from 9:00 - 11:00am followed by a service at 11:00am. A burial will occur at 12:00pm at Memory Gardens, 2501 East Euclid Avenue, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
