Obituary of Julia Estella Strawn
Julia E. Strawn, born on November 25th, 1938, to James J. and Estella (Forrestal) McGuinness, peacefully passed away on May 11th, 2024, at the age of 85. Julia, known to most as Judy, was a beloved member of her community and parish, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication. Throughout her life, Judy exemplified the values instilled in her during her upbringing. She attended St. Francis DeSales Grade School and continued her education at St. Mary's Academy for high school. On July 7th, 1962, she exchanged vows with the love of her life, Ernest E. Strawn, at St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church. Their union was a testament to devotion and partnership, and Judy cherished every moment spent with Ernie until his passing. Judy's faith was an integral part of her life, and she became a cherished member of Holy Name Parish in 1962. Her commitment to her church community was unwavering, and she could always be found volunteering her time at various events. From the Christmas Bazaar to Octoberfest, from the Reverse Raffle to the mother-daughter breakfast, Judy poured her heart and soul into every endeavor for the betterment of her parish. Her involvement extended to activities such as Bingo, rummage sales, and the Ladies Altar Society, where her presence was not just appreciated, but cherished. In recognition of her selfless acts of service, Judy was honored with the Angel Among Us award in May 2007. A testament to her kindness and generosity that touched the lives of many within Holy Name Parish. While Judy faced her share of challenges, including the loss of her beloved husband, Ernie, and her son, Michael, she continued to exemplify resilience and grace. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will be carried on by her precious daughters, Theresa (Pete) Cole and Paula Meiring, grandchildren, Tyler Meiring and Cody Cole, as well as numerous extended family and friends. Judy was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren whose accomplishments brought her immeasurable joy. In her passing, Judy leaves behind a community that mourns her loss, but also celebrates a life well-lived. Her spirit of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. Visitation for Julia E.
