Pauline “Donut” Filippone Padgett died on May 4, 2024 surrounded by her family. Born on September 13, 1942, she was the fourth of six children of Dr. John M. Filippone, Sr. and Pauline Agnes (Lucia) Filippone. She grew up in Bellaire, TX and attended Holy Ghost Catholic School, Saint Agnes Academy (’60), and Sam Houston State College.
Pauline worked for many years as a medical secretary and office manager for Dr. John M. Filippone, Sr., Scurlock Orthopedics, and Rosewood ENT. She officially retired in August, 2012 and loved it.
Pauline was predeceased by her parents and oldest brother Dr. John Filippone. She is survived by her siblings Rosalie Filippone, Dr. Marion (Pete) Filippone and Judy, Mary Jo Langston, and Vincent Filippone. In addition, special recognition should go to her beloved special friend Dee Cloud.
Pauline leaves behind a loving legacy that includes her children: Thomas H. Padgett Jr. (Catherine Del Paggio), Tonya Padgett, and Dr. Paige Padgett Wermuth (Daniel Berry.) Her much loved grandchildren, Thomas III, Charlie, Donovan, Gryphon, Fenian, Morgaine, Greer, and Caspar. Her nieces, nephews, and godchildren Kathy, Donna, Karen, Lucia, John, Paul, and Vincent.
Her best friends were her siblings, cousins, children, and grandchildren. Pauline was the sort of person that never met a stranger. She welcomed many people over the years into her heart and her home. The legions of grade school, high school, and college friends of her children always felt welcome. Usually by some food or other libations. She was a true lover of Tex-Mex, especially margaritas from Los Tios in Meyerland. Her attempts to say Spanish words were always obliterated by her soft Texas Accent. She was particularly fond of music and instilled that love into her children, who to this day can sing "Quando, Quando, Quando" at the drop of a hat. There was no question that she had a sense of humor as she tolerated her children’s teasing with grace and laughter. Her house was more than just a house, it was a home to many people who were lost. The list would take up pages, but special recognition to John, Donny, Kevin, Jay, Dave, Taylor, Bill, Gina, Gerald, Tim, Marilyn, and others.
There is so much more to her wonderful and layered life. At the end of the day, Donut, Pauline, Mom, Mommy, MawMaw, Grandma Pauline, Sister, Daughter – she will be forever missed and forever loved.
