Jean Lucetta Womble passed away on May 10, 2024 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City OK after a long battle with cancer. Jean was 67 years old. She was born in Carrington ND at 12:14 pm on August 14, 1957, the second child of Virginia Louise and Joe Maurice Carr. Jean grew up on a farm outside Bordulac ND. The family consisted of 10 children and many friends, and cousins. They enjoyed playing outside in a big yard. Bordulac was a very small town, so everyone knew each other and often your parents knew what happened before you got home, and the pending punishment.Jean’s hobbies included quilting and cross stitching. She went to Branson MO a few times with friends on sewing (quilting) retreats, and of course visiting a few of the fabric stores, usually making at least 2 trips to each store. Jean and her friends always had a good time and even managed to sew a few quilt tops. The food and drinks were great. Jean had lots of fun with all her cousins, the evening drives, and that invisible deer that caused a car accident with the Straley’s. She loved the Juicy Fruit Gum Tree with the John Wolf family, the baseball games and chicken catching with Bub Wolf’s family. She also loved the Andie’s frog ponds, the Nervera’s sleep overs in their camper, and the House’s family dinners, games and sleepovers. She served in the US Navy for approximately 11 years and enjoyed meeting shipmates and the new challenges in work and different locations. Her rotation was approximately every 2 years, she was stationed in Moffett Field CA, London England, Honolulu HI, NAS Charleston SC, and USS Canopus King Bay GA after attending boot camp in Orlando Fl. While in the Navy her rate was Ship Serviceman which included barber, laundry, and ship store. She received many quarterly and annual awards for her rate and rank. After her career in the Navy she went into Federal civil service where she eventually retired. In civil service she received many awards including the Award for Excellence. The General and her organization surprised her during a training session which she was conducting, to present the award because she would never attend the award ceremonies. She enjoyed all of her government jobs, the work and the people she met. Jean enjoyed car races, demolition derby, stock car, funny car, drag racing, round track, road racing, and Formula 1, and always wished F1 had a year-round schedule. Jean was an active member of CVAR (Corinthian Vintage Auto Racing), selling SWAG (stuff we all get), which she really enjoyed, and was presented the 2016 McLaughlin award for exemplifying the Corinthian spirit and attitude. She always tried to answer any questions that her SWAG customers asked her, or she found the answer and told them. Gary let her use his car to do high speed touring at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit which she really enjoyed. She never got the hang of turn 4, but the one time she did it was OMG. She really enjoyed the HST and was so excited she missed the checkered flag. Jean did volunteer work at Integris Gift Gallery after retiring and wished she had done it earlier. She was so surprised by the gift shop, expecting a small SWAG type store but was really surprised to see that it was like a small boutique. She enjoyed the work and meeting all the customers, employees, and co-volunteers. She was always impressed with the staff and how appreciative they were to the volunteers. Jean was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, and 3 brothers. She is survived by her daughter Chelsea Billings, son-in-law Patrick, their loving, spoiled dog, Lumi and her boyfriend/partner of 22 years, Gary McFarlane, who introduces her to CVAR. He was always taking them for drives, and they drove all over Oklahoma enjoying the sights and trips. Jean is also survived by 6 siblings, friends in OKC, the Integris Gift Gallery, and her CVAR friends, whom she considered family.
Special thanks to everyone for enriching her life.
