Dr. Donald Feldman, 95, passed away peacefully May 11, 2024, in Alameda, CA. Born September 22, 1928, in Middle Village, NY, to George Feldman and Esther Morgenstern Feldman, he grew up in Queens and Islip, NY. Feldman graduated from the University of Rochester in 1948 and received an M.S. in Microbiology in 1951 from Tulane University. In 1954, he received his M.D. from New York University. After completing his residency in Pathology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital (Peter Bent Brigham), Feldman served as Chief of Pathology at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury, MA, for five years. He was then a Pathologist at the (Good Samaritan) Goddard Memorial Hospital in Stoughton, MA, and at the Brockton Hospital for many years. He also taught Pathology and did research at Harvard Medical School for twenty-five years. Feldman co-authored ten research articles that appeared in leading publications.
From 1955 to 1957, Feldman served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Hospital at Fort Rucker, Alabama. He married Nancy Lee Olken in 1963. A true renaissance man, Feldman loved classical music, opera, theatre, nature, traveling and history, as well as visiting with friends and family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Hannah Feldman Pentz and Sarah Louise Feldman, his son-in-law John Pentz, and his three grandchildren, Jacob and George Pentz and Becka Feldman.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA on Wednesday May 22, at 1:45 pm. Meet at the rear of the Administration Building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
