Age 76, of Vancouver, BC, passed away on May 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Arsenio was born on December 12, 1947, in Carmen, Bohol, Philippines, to Manuel and Cecelia Bernaldez. He dedicated his career as an engineer to the Vancouver School Board. Arsenio was known for his welcoming and kind demeanor, always ready to lend a helping hand, and was a mentor to many. His strength was always inspiring and encouraging.
Arsenio was a passionate competitor in golf, tennis, and ballroom dancing, but his love for sports extended to many other activities. He cherished moments camping and fishing with family and friends, and exploring the world with his beloved wife, Thelma.
He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma; his children Arceli (Hubert), Antoinette, and Arsenio Jr.; grandchildren Ayden, Isaac, Angelo, and Andrew; step-grandchild Samara (Geoff); great-grandchildren Sophia and Ophelia; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He is also survived by his siblings Ramon, Anita, Adolfa, and Hermila.
A viewing will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC, on May 20 from 7pm to 9pm.
A Mass will take place at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Heather Street, Vancouver, BC, on May 21 at 9:30 am, followed by burial at Ocean View Cemetery.
