Karen was a well respected Supervisor for Clevite until her retirement. She was not only a tremendous manager and leader, but an adorned member of the company with many whom she loved dearly. For most of Karen’s life and into her retirement years, she spent her time riding, barrel racing (competitively for many years) and taking care of her horses and dogs. It was not only what she was passionate about, but it was her God-given talent. It was her heart and her soul; she had many accolades and buckles to show for it. Only second to that was food. Food (specifically food cooked by Ann or Jimmy or her weekly Friday dinner treats with Philip Bernard) was definitely next to her love of horses! What could be better than a strong and pretty woman who worked her way through life, barrel raced on some incredible horses and ate good food!
One of the best attributes of Karen aside from her time spent on a barrel horse was her love, dedication and support for so many dear friends in her life. She was tough as nails, but when she needed a trusted confidant or someone she could rely on, Ann was the one she went to. They were best friends who became family in all aspects. Debbie Milligan was one of her lifelong best friends who shared many years alongside Karen in life and in the truck headed to Barrel Races. And…We know a party surely happened as Karen met Sandy Neergaard at the pearly gates of Heaven’s entrance. We can only hope they are sharing in lots of good times & memories. (We are all praying that they don’t get each other kicked out…. Hopefully!)
As written on a special set of horseshoes by a pretty special man:
“Wish, what you wish for • Hope, what you hope for • Dream, what you dream of • But Life, Life is only what you make it.”
~ J. Fitzgerald (50 year Friendship/Family)
All we can say is what a life Karen made hers to be. She was a God-loving, fierce and independent woman who lived a life to be celebrated. A mom first and always, a successful career woman and talented horsewoman. She was one of a kind and perfectly made, and she made a pretty wonderful and special son who has all the good she possessed. He was her world.
Karen will be missed more than words can express, but may we all try to be a little like Karen for all the good she left with us. When the time presents itself, we will tip our Cowboy/Cowgirl hats to her and cherish all the beautifully precious moments we had with Karen. This is not goodbye, simply see you later.
To you in Heaven, Mama, we promise will continue to carry your legacy forward. - From your son, Travis and your God-Children, Ty and Shane.
Join us in celebrating and rejoicing in the life of Karen S. Silver.
