Born and raised in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Roman Catholic High School. He was a US Army Veteran, and served his nation during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. He lived in Maple Shade NJ, Wayne and Meadowbrook, PA.
Edward is predeceased by his parents, Constantine and Margaret (nee McGinty) Montufar, and his brothers, Joseph, Charles, and James Montufar.
Lovingly known to his beloved family and friends as “Unkie”, he is survived by his nieces and nephews, Margee (JP), Michelle, JoAnn (Shawn), Chuck (Jo), Frank (Sally), Michael, Terry (Jim), Mary, James (Marilyn), Tina-Marie (George) and Jeannie Lemon; his great-nieces and nephews, Tyler, Jack, Juliette, Deana, Cara, Christine, Alex, Amanda, Charlie, Mary Kate, Kevin, Kelly, Kristin, Danny, Krissy and an abundance of close friends and loved ones.
Edward worked as a Financial Controller for Ampco Metals.
Beyond his professional life, Eddie had a passion for movies and amassed an impressive library, from Betamax to VHS to DVDs, that he loved to share with all.
He also had a deep love for Philadelphia sports, most notably the Phillies and the Flyers. Unk had an impeccable taste in American music classics, enjoying the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, and many many others. His quick wit and funny banter kept all those he came in contact with smiling. He will always be remembered for having the BEST sense of humor and a tireless positive attitude. He leaves behind a legacy of generosity and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was dearly loved by all who knew him. Let us remember the indelible mark he has left on our hearts and minds.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12 noon followed by a memorial service at the Blake-Doyle Funeral Home 226 West Collings Avenue, Collingswood, NJ 08108.
Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.
