Ralph L. Gleckler passed away on May 10, 2024, at 85 years old, after a blessedly short fight against time and failing health. He loved Colorado (having been born in Dodge City, KS), Maui, boating and skiing on any lake, and spending time with his family in all locales. He also loved Snickers, Moon Pies, RC Cola, Apple Fritters, and Siberian Huskies.
He spent his early career dedicated to vocational education in Colorado and New Mexico, then spent the final years of his career using those skills running the in-house production printing facility for the Colorado Springs school district. After a storied career in education, he “retired” to spend time helping run fleet vehicles all over the country.
The list of vehicles he owned over the years was impressive, as his biggest weakness was wistfully dreaming of his next vehicle. Ralph’s passion and skills in carpentry, passed down from his father, especially custom cabinets, was a nice side gig that kept his family wanting for nothing, and then ultimately became his favorite way to pass time in his later years; anyone need a step stool ?!
He is survived by his first and greatest love, Doris, wife of 65 years; son Eric Gleckler; daughter Nancy Cannon and her husband Paul; son Drew Gleckler and his wife Teresa; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Gathering for Memories will be held at Noon on Saturday June 15, 2024 at the Patty Jewett Golf Course Clubhouse.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the El Paso County Humane Society in his name.
