SFC (Ret) Karl D. Fuhrman, 72, of Upatoi, Georgia passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1951 in Germany to the late Martin Nathan Fuhrman and Anna Elizabeth Döll Fuhrman. Karl grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After embarking on a career with the United States Army and faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War. After Karl retired from the Army and settling in the Columbus area he served his community with the Columbus Police Department and retired for a second time to enjoy his retirement with family and all the retirement fundamentals such as hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.
Karl leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his children: Laurie K. Johansen (Daniel “Chuck”), Michael L. Fuhrman (Ashley) and Matthew K. Fuhrman; his adored grandchildren: Christopher M Fuhrman (Laloni Leigh), Austin C. Johansen, Hannah M. Fuhrman, Tinner C. Bergman, and Levi C. Fuhrman; his former spouse and mother of Karl’s children, Song Ja Fuhrman; and Karl’s siblings: Clarence M. Fuhrman, Liane M. Fuhrman, and Annette S. Jones; and numerous other family members.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Following the visitation a memorial service with military honors will take place at 3:00 PM at Striffler Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
