He was born in Laredo, Texas on July 31, 1946. He graduated from Mirando City High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Air Force soon after. After serving in the military Benjamin worked at American Smelting for many years while also attending Del Mar College. He then went on to work at the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement in December 2012. He was married to Maria (Lupita) Sanchez for 53 years and had 3 wonderful children.
Benjamin enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his children.
He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Rosalia Ramon, siblings Irene Salinas and Elida Garza and his newborn baby girl. He was survived by his wife, Maria, his children, Benjamin Javier Ramon Jr (Gloria), Pablo Antonio Ramon (Cindy), and Marina Marie Hernandez (Robert) his grandchildren, Michael, Victoria, Mariah, Abigail, Farrah, Benjamin III, Maksim, Rosalie and Gianna, his siblings, Antonio Ramon Jr (Mary), Armandina Ramon, Maria Rodriguez (Robert), Jesus Ramon (Imelda), Ruben Ramon, Sr. (Gloria),Sandra De La Garza (Alfonso).
The family wishes to thank all the doctors and staff that helped Benjamin: The Staff at Shoreline Hospital, The Doctors and staff at FMAC, Dr. Ogbu and Faith (Kidney Specialist), Dr. Julie Rowe (UT Houston) and Staff, Trio Home Health. A special thank you to the staff at Angel Bright Hospice for keeping Benjamin comfortable in his final days.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm with the Holy Rosary to be Recited at 7:00 pm, visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 8:30 am until 12:00 pm, funeral procession will depart to Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church for a 12:30 pm Mass of Christian Burial. Committal will be at 2:00 pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.
